Top Ten Reasons to Visit Samal Island

Samal Island is a small topical island in southern Mindanao, located in the the Gulf of Davao. While Samal Island may not be well known outside of the Philippines, there are plenty of reasons you would would want to consider visiting there.

 Here's my Top Ten:

10) Bat Caves - some of the most interesting bat caves anywhere, including the Monfort Bat Caves - the largest known population of Geoffrey Rousette Fruit Bats in the world.

9) White House - unique historic landmark that was home to the Moncado religious clan and Filipino Crusaders World Army. Great view of Davao over the gulf.

8) Mt. Puting Bato - the largest point on Samal Island. A good hiking and sightseeing location.

7) Hagimit Falls - the most famous falls on the island. Great get away that's not over-crowded.

6) Zipline/Rapelling -the zipline may or may be closed at the moment but rapelling is still very popular

5) Water sports - a wide variety of water sports including: kayaking, jet skiing, wind sailing and just about anything else you can think of.

4) Festivals - wildly colorful and many to choose from doing various times of the year. A must see if you haven't been to one before.

3) Snorkeling/ Scuba Diving - very popular activity because of the beautiful coral and fantastic marine life.

2) Filipinas - you can see some of the most beautiful women in the world all throughout the Philippines but put them in a bikini on a beautiful beach in a laid back setting and it doesn't get much better.

1) Resorts - with over 40 resorts to meet your fancy, what better way to enjoy the beautiful white beaches and lush vegetation that is Samal Island.
