The Philippines - Is It Safe?

So you are going to spend some time in the Philippines and want to know just how safe it is!

I have been to the Philippines many times and, let me tell you, it can be as safe as your own back yard...if you follow the rules.

But I must confess, the first time I visited the Islands, I did have a bad experience. I made some bad decisions, was beat up and robbed. Fortunately, I learned the rules for staying safe and have had wonderful experiences visitng the Philippines for many years since then. I would recommend going there, without hesitation!

Here are some of the main rules you must follow to stay safe:

• Don't go out at night alone, especially in the Manila area.

• Don't flash around a lot a cash.

• Store your passport and extra cash in a money belt.

• Keep most of your money in your home bank and use your debit card to withdraw it while you're in the Philippines. There are plenty of ATM's around.

• Don't walk down a dark alley with a girl named "Baby" who promises you that her house is just around the corner, (Only half kidding!)

• Use common sense when going to certain areas of the Philippines.

• Some areas of the Philippines have a reputation of being more dangerous than others. Why take the chance of going there.

With just these main rules you'll be a lot safer than those who just throw caution to the wind.

WARNING: You may have so much fun and excitment in the Philippines that you won't want to come back to your dangerous home town!

While it is generally safe to travel in the Philippines, if you follow these simple common sense rules, you will be sure to have a safe and enjoyable trip.
